Hiya, I'm Ben, a freelance lighting camera operator, videographer, and editor based in London.

I bring a calm, practical approach to production, combining technical knowledge with an eye for unscripted, natural moments. My foundation was built on fast-paced, run-and-gun documentary style shoots across New Zealand, where adapting to shifting light and thinking on your feet was required. Paired with years of agency work in London shooting and cutting high-turnaround video, I know how to deliver strong production value under real-world constraints and deadlines. That could be crafting an interview lighting setup, capturing behind-the-scenes content on busy sets, or staying mobile so talent forgets the camera is there.

My focus is on documentary, factual, and observational projects that let genuine subjects and real stories take center stage. Because I handle both production and post, I arrive on set with an editor's practical eye:

Behind the camera: I shoot for the edit, prioritising coverage, lighting, audio, and usable cutaways so the editor (or me) have enough to build a great story.
In the edit suite: I take the footage across the finish line and love to build narratives out of a long form interview. I can also provide a basic colour grade and motion graphics using Adobe After Effects.
